Week 3-Post #1- MBA 6101 The 15 Biggest Risks Of Artificial Intelligence
I have to admit that I am still on the fence with AI. Mainly because I don't fully understand what it is and usually with that its more about trust. I fear anything that I don't truly comprehend and am pretty guarded when it's something that involves science and technology. Sometimes I say something out loud and soon after I see an add on my phone or my Roku. I know our phones can hear pretty much everything we say and I think that freaks me out. When I see more and more in the news about Artificial Intelligence I know we are headed in an "unknown" territory. Although I may not fully be on board with that truth I know things are created to hopefully do more good than harm.
This article from Forbes identifies the risks involved with Artificial Intelligence.
1. The lack of transparency
2. Bias and Discrimination
3. Privacy Concerns
4. Ethical Dilemmas
5. Security risks
6. Concentration of power
7. Dependence on AI
8. Job displacement
9. Economic equality
10. Legal and regulatory challenges
11. AI Arms race
12. Loss of human connection
13. Misinformation and manipulation
14. Unintended consequences
15. Existential risks
As with anything shiny and new, there are going to be many risks and kinks to iron out as mentioned in the above article. Privacy concerns would probably be my main concerns right along with security risks. We try so hard to protect ourselves and our personal data so things like AI can have some posing concerns to keep in mind. I do think that AI is slowly taking over some jobs that don't necessarily need actual humans to do to be successful or efficient. I also believe that many people lack social skills and AI only increases that risk but can be avoided with balance between humans and technology.
