Week 8 Post #1 MBA 6101 AI Cutting Jobs

Per many sources, AI is already starting to cut many jobs in the field. This month's news article from Yahoo explains how just in the past month already 4,000 jobs have already been cut in the tech industry alone. Many people believe that AI will affect their jobs in some capacity but not sure when to expect it nor do they fully understand how it works. Per Krista, a software company that conducted a survey among the different generations of people there is still some gaps in how AI operates. One of the reviewers within the Yahoo article express their frustration with AI phone calls. I can very much agree that this is a huge pet peeve of mine when I call somewhere that involves my finances. I too want to speak to a live person and get my issues resolved that sometimes cannot be solved with AI. With that said, I do believe that AI can exist among us and we can all work in synch and have a harmonious flow but it will take adaptation and further training among those who don't understand it fully.

Up until recently, I hadn't tried the OpenAI platform and the things that I asked varied from basic recipes to military, to child books and American history. I was astounded. Not only by how fast the ChatGPT spewed out ideas and knowledge but the fact that I didn't even know some of it. This is the part that make me feel uneasy about AI and confirms that it is smarter than we are and that's probably why we are being replaced by these machines to do our daily tasks. As the Krista surveys go on throughout the article, it does ask varied questions such as how much do you trust AI to do your job and your attitude towards AI. For the most part, many feel that it is the future and think that it is a leading edge. However, on the flip side of things, there are still some reservations to having AI perform tasks such as serve as a juror of a murder trial, make life or death decisions when it involves military combat or flying a plane. I would have to agree with those negatives of AI because as I have read before, AI is not something has has compassion or emotional awareness. They are robots and machines and I wouldn't rely on a machine to make life or death decisions on my behalf.
